After a short test period, it is official, Torpedo, a 2 year old golden cascade/khaki campbell has become the newest member of the Green Hill flock.  She has taught the flock to break dance, likes to quack, and enjoys 33 degree baths daily.  Welcome Torpedo.

 We are happy to once again offer our natural grown Fraiser Fir Christmas trees for sale again.  These trees have been grown in Brevard, North Carolina on our family land.  They have grown for well over a decade without any fertilizer or pesticides.  Many years during that time they did not even receive a pruning, so they are in a style that maybe referred to in the industry as "Charlie Brown."  We offer these trees for a $20-60 recommended donation for a 4-18' tree, or larger.   They can be trimmed or styled to fit your tastes or room.  We also have a large selection of pear and apple trees, grown at Green Hill Urban Farm in West Asheville, that will make a fantastic holiday gift for any foodie, just follow our link to Barkslip's Mirco-Nursery under our Current News page.  I am currently in Koroni, Greece with Niko Theros of Theros of Theros Olive Oil also headquartered in Asheville, NC (www.therosoliveoil.com and another wonderful local holiday gift) helping with the harvest.  We will not have our  "holiday"  trees available until Saturday the 12th of December, at Green Hill Urban Farm, sorry for any inconvenience.  Thank you for visiting our website and your appreciation of local and sustainable products.

Green Hill Urban Farm is proud to introduce the newest addition to our team, the Ducks.  Residing in the Habiquack, these cute little birds will patrol Green Hill for slugs and other insects while leaving behind nice piles of fertilizer. 

The biogas production process can be simply described as an anaerobic (absence of air) composting. In anaerobic environments a different microbe dominates and metabolizes the organic material available.

As farmers, Green Hill Urban Farm realizes how frustrating, intimidating, and confusing starting a website can be for a small business.  That is why we have teamed up with Boldwater. net to offer inexpensive website development to local producers of agriculture, crafts, and art in the area.

Green Hill Urban Farm has added more gravity irrigation tanks to further our sustainable methodology.

Green Hill Urban Farm has a highly, technologically advanced chalkboard refridgerator message center.

Green Hill Urban Farm has implemented a high gravity fed irrigation system into its sustainable features to maintain the thirst of our aquaholic plant population.  Using a large rain barrel as a reservoir, water pressure has been directed down slopes through an assortment of different sized hoses which provide supreme hydo-oxygen efficiency that could not even be accomplished on the moon with the application of rocket science methodologies.

This week's CSA share included baby kale, chard, and beet greens. Additionally radishes and bok choy were in a seperate bag.

Permaculture extraordinaire Bill Whipple has opened an expansion to Bark Slip Nursery at Green Hill Urban Farm's sustainable green landscape.

Green Hill Urban Farm incorporates other local artisans and craftsman into our sustainable practices.  One of the latest additions to our diverse infrastructure is a locally mined rock wall being constructed by our rock mason extroadinaire Ernesto Gutierez, an associate of Shiloh Stone.
